Xavier Albó, the great researcher and an activist who advocated for the Aymara and Quechua languages and cultures, winner of the 2015 Linguapax International Award, has recently died in Bolivia. His eighty-eight years of life have been an example of fighting for a more just world where linguistic diversity is a blessing rather than a curse.

Linguapax Award Ceremony in Mexico

The 2022 Linguapax Award was given to the ADN Maya collective. The event took place in Mexico and featured musical performances by rappers Pat Boy, along with DJ Rakalkú, Yaalen K’uj, Ixi’im ko’olel, and Armando Mazun. The purpose of this award is to identify, value, and disseminate successful actions and good practices from around the world that serve as a reference and example to other groups and individuals.
