The Linguapax Schools Prize ceremony took place on Wednesday 9 June, at the UNESCO Centre of Catalonia, in Barcelona.
Through this Prize, Linguapax, the UNESCO Centre of Catalonia and the Network of UNESCO-Associated Schools of Catalonia (XEAUC) give recognition to actions developed in education that aim to promote language teaching and learning, bring world languages closer and work to encourage and promote heritage languages.
The centre that received the first edition of the prize is the Migdia School in Girona, for its project: "The mother tongue, a right for all children". An honourable mention was also given to another project, "The first week of languages", developed by the Ferrer i Guardia School in Sant Joan Despi.
Other schools receiving the Prize were: the Empordà School in Roses, with the project "The English Village"; the El Farell School in Caldes de Montbui, with the project "The illustrators' day"; Badalona School, with the project "Teenage fight for peace"; the Aula de Música i Teatre school in Sant Feliu de Llobregat, with the project "Songs dedicated to books of the writer Roald Dahl," and El Roser school from Sant Julià de Vilatorta with the project "The Floral Games at our school."
