Miquel Àngel Essomba starts his visit to the Pacific region in Nouméa and will then proceed to New Zealand where he'll deliver the Linguapax Prize 2009

The head of the delegation of Linguapax in the Pacific area, Lluís Bernabé, is hosting the president of Linguapax in the capital city of New Caledonia and has organised a series of interviews with the Minister of Culture, Déwé Gorodey, with the assembly of Kanak representatives, the Senat Coutumier, and other institutions devoted to the recovery of the Kanak languages and culture. The activities also include the public presentation of the translation of the preamble of the Noumea Agreements into several autochtonous languages carried out by Linguapax. This mission is also an occasion to monitor the projects carried out by Linguapax Pacific and identify new lines of action. On July 25, Miquel Àngel Essomba will travel to New Zealand to deliver the 2009 Linguapax Prize to the Maori linguist and educator Katerina Te Heikoko Mataira.
