The president of Linguapax, Miquel Àngel Essomba, will travel to New Zealand next July 25 to deliver the 2009 Linguapax Prize to the maori linguist Katerina Te Heikoko Mataira.
The ceremony will take place at the Parliament buildings under the presidency of the Minister of Maori Affairs, Hon. Dr Pita Sharples. During his short stay in New Zealand, the Te Ataarangi Trust for maori language learning, created by this year's awardee, has organized a series of meetings with local linguistic institution and authorities. The president of Linguapax will seize the opportunity of this long trip to stop over in New Caledonia to visit the regional delegation of Linguapax in the Pacific.
