Linguapax Award 2012

Terms of Reference

1. Every year, Linguapax (UNESCO Centre of Catalonia) calls for nominations for the Linguapax Award which recognises and awards the actions carried out in different areas in favour of the preservation of linguistic diversity, revitalization and reactivation of linguistic communities and the promotion of multilingualism.

2. Both individuals of the academic community and civil society (Category I) and entities or collectives (Category O) can be nominated as a candidate whose actions fit the descriptions of the aforementioned areas.

3. Nominations must include contact details of the nominee as well as a letter of motivation for the candidacy. Additional documentation supporting the work described will be most appreciated.

4. The nominations must be sent to Linguapax by email to the following address : (Necessites javascript per veure aquest correu-e) before January 12, 2012. Kindly ensure that the subject of the email is specified as "Linguapax Award 2012".

The nominations presented by mail must be sent by certified post dated before January 12, 2012, to the following address:

5. The nominations will be treated with full confidentiality.

6. The jury of the Linguapax Prize is formed of the members of the Linguapax Board, the international Advisory Board as well as the Linguapax delegations. The decision will be final.

7. The award will be given in two categories: individual and organisation. Both will each receive a sum of 2,500 €.

8. The winners of the Linguapax Award will be announced on February 21, 2012, on International Mother Language Day.
