FUEN – Congress with a clear message: the minorities in Europe want to be listened to
Eisenstadt Declaration on the Situation of the Roma adopted / Urgent appeal to the Federal Government in Vienna
Around 180 guests from more than 20 European countries answered the call from their umbrella organisations - the Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN) and gathered in Eisenstadt/ Željezno in Burgenland, Austria, for its 56th Congress.
Roma: main subject
The focus of the Congress was on the situation of the Roma in Europe. One week before the largest meeting of the autochthonous minorities, representatives of FUEN and EU Commissioner Viviane Reding met to speak about this highly topical subject, and the Commissioner said that she would like to revert to the experience and solution approaches of FUEN.
