Julien Meyer ((Necessites javascript per veure aquest correu-e)) is doing research on whistled forms of languages. Although he is currently working in the Amazon (he has a post doc with the Museu Paranse Emilio Goeldi, Brasil, and has formerly worked on a project funded by SOAS), he is interested in the subject worldwide, and has written to me about whistled languages in Papua New Guinea. For PNG, there are scattered references to whistled languages in parts of the Sepik (particularly Torricelli) and the Highlands, but except for a few sources, my information is very limited.
If you have any knowledge about whistled languages in PNG or other parts of the Pacific, please communicate directly with Julien.
Thanks for your help,
Don
