The French Department at Queen's University Belfast is pleased to invite applications for:
* One three-year PhD award funded by the AHRC under its Block Grant
Partnership Scheme
* One further PhD studentship funded by the NI Higher Education Department

The closing date for PhD funding applications is 11th March 2011. There is no separate application form for these awards, but to be eligible for consideration, students must already have been accepted onto a PhD programme in French. Applications must be made through the University's Postgraduate Application Portal; as part of the application process you will be asked to select the type of funding you wish to be considered for. You will also be required to submit a 1000 word research proposal. The portal may be accessed here:

Potential applicants are warmly invited to attend the Humanities Postgraduate Open Day on 25th February 2011, where they will have an opportunity to meet staff and current students, as well as to see the facilities available to graduate students in the University.
The French Department at QUB offers supervision in all areas of French Literature, culture and linguistics, and in the most recent RAE exercise, 50% of our research activity was rated at either 4* or 3* (world leading or internationally excellent).
