There are three official languages in Rwanda; English, French and Rwanda. Historically Rwanda as an ex colony of Belgium, had used French as an official language. French speaking Rwandans could now be the smallest linguistic group in Rwanda followed by English and then Rwanda according to Ethnologue.
However, with English now the declared official language in Rwanda for two years, the impact of the policy on the students and teachers is being higlighted in this article. The new policy could have differing effects on the varying populations of anglophone and francophone Rwandans.
